Oriental medicine is an umbrella term for many methods of health care that originated in East Asia. It unites ancient healing methods with modern medicine. It
addresses the whole body as a health system, looking at and exploring symptoms
and patterns that show how well the body is in balance and where the body has
health problems. A common method of Oriental medicine is traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM). One of the important treatment tools is acupuncture. Another is
herbal pharmacology, which combines over 400 natural products into thousands of
formulas to treat a variety of health problems.

Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, solid, single-use needles into specific points on
the body that are known to affect health in positive ways.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is a powerful branch of OM.  It brings together over 400
natural products used in different combinations to create formulas composed of 8 to
20 single herbs; these combined together provide a synergistic effect that is
otherwise unavailable with single herbs alone.

Zen Shiatsu (pronounced “she-ott-zoo”) is a form of Japanese bodywork where
gentle pressure is applied along specific pathways (meridians) to all parts of the
body, in combination with stretching the joints through their range of motion.

Medical Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) combines slow, flowing movements with
the regulation of breathing to enhance energy, improve circulation, and boost the
immune system. Qigong therapy is often incorporated into acupuncture and shiatsu
treatments.
